Lidl Cyprus hits sustainability milestone with certified palm oil usage
Lidl Cyprus announced a major milestone in its sustainability strategy as of September 14, 2026, confirming that 97% of the palm oil used in its own-brand products is now certified under internationally recognized standards. The company utilizes certifications such as RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) and EU Organic to verify its sourcing.
This achievement follows the launch of a strategic partnership between Lidl and WWF Greece in 2024. The collaboration focuses on reducing environmental impacts through joint supply chain risk assessments, the establishment of binding sustainability criteria for suppliers, and rigorous monitoring processes. A central objective of the partnership is to eliminate deforestation and conversion within the supply chain, ensuring that production practices do not contribute to the destruction of critical ecosystems.
By prioritizing deforestation-free supply chains and optimizing yields, the companies aim to address the severe environmental challenges associated with global palm oil production. This initiative reflects Lidl’s ongoing commitment to ecological responsibility and supply chain transparency.
