EKO launches €3 million support programme for Cyprus mountain communities

On September 12, 2026, EKO, a subsidiary of HELLENiQ ENERGY, announced a three-year investment programme exceeding €3 million dedicated to supporting the mountain communities of Cyprus. The initiative, presented at the Presidential Retreat in Troodos, was attended by President Nikos Christodoulides, First Lady Philippa Karsera-Christodoulides, and the Minister of Education.

The programme aims to address the specific needs of communities included in the National Strategy for the Development of Mountain Communities (ESAOOK), as well as those located in the Tylliria region. The funding will target improvements in daily life for residents, focusing on social care, environmental protection, and the promotion of cultural heritage. A primary objective is to support families and the younger generation to ensure the long-term sustainability and vibrancy of these regions.

This project represents a continuation of EKO's social contribution efforts in Cyprus. By establishing this formal framework, the company seeks to create better prospects for inhabitants of remote areas, helping to mitigate the demographic and economic challenges faced by mountain populations as part of the broader national strategy.
