Cyprus launches tender for digital citizen platform upgrade

The Cypriot Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy has launched an open tender to upgrade, maintain, and expand the 'Digital Citizen' application. The project, valued between €9.7 million and €9.8 million excluding VAT, will span five years and is funded entirely by national resources. This initiative represents a significant increase in scope compared to previous phases of the platform.

New features planned for the application include driver's license penalty points, refugee identity cards, electronic signatures, a state document vault, and mobile application tracking. Crucially, the upgrade will integrate the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet) to streamline transactions with both government and private sector entities. While the estimated project value serves as a financial framework, the final costs will be determined following the evaluation of bids. The government aims to make the full suite of services available within 2027, subject to the completion of necessary technical interconnections and security audits.
