Cyprus government reports on aid for 2025 Limassol fire victims

As of August 28, 2026, the Cypriot government has spent over 15.3 million euros to support victims of the 2025 wildfires in mountainous Limassol. Interior Minister Konstantinos Ioannou provided these figures in response to a parliamentary query from MP Michalis Paraskevas, detailing the management of relief efforts for affected households.

Authorities examined a total of 863 applications, consisting of 758 original timely submissions, 134 late applications, and 75 additional files transferred from the Department of Agriculture concerning agricultural warehouses. Out of these, 536 applications were approved, while 327 were rejected. Disputing these findings, affected citizens filed 65 appeals, of which 35 have already been accepted. The government noted that eligible fire victims may continue to receive housing allowance payments for a period of up to 24 months.
