Thousands bid farewell to singer Giorgos Mazonakis in Nikaia

On Monday, September 14, 2026, thousands of fans, relatives, and prominent figures from the Greek artistic community gathered at the Holy Church of Agia Triada in Nikaia to attend the funeral of the renowned singer Giorgos Mazonakis. The service was conducted by the Metropolitan of Nikaia, Alexios, who eulogized the singer, highlighting his deep personal connection to the neighborhood, his charitable contributions, and his history of participating in church activities. The public viewing period concluded at noon, followed by a highly emotional funeral ceremony.

As the coffin left the church, the crowd expressed their grief through sustained applause, cheering, and by singing his popular hits, including "Fevgo gia mena."
