Cyprus Greens movement announces interim leadership and upcoming election

On September 13, 2026, the Ecologists Movement–Citizens' Cooperation held an extraordinary congress, during which they appointed an interim leadership team. Katerina Hatzistylli and Loukas Stylianou were designated as First and Second Vice Presidents respectively, assuming the responsibilities of the President and Deputy President until the upcoming internal elections. The party also expressed gratitude to the outgoing leaders Stavros Papadouris and Maria Kola for their service.

The movement scheduled an extraordinary electoral congress for Saturday, November 14, 2026, to fill positions for the President, Deputy President, and Second Vice President, along with vacancies in the Central, Political, and District Committees. During this transition, spokesperson Elena Lympouri and deputy spokesperson Michalis Menelaou will retain their positions.

To facilitate the elections, the party activated Article 61 of its statute, temporarily waiving professional experience requirements for participation in the electoral process. This measure allows registered members, friends of the movement, and individuals who previously participated in party electoral lists to vote and stand for election. Additionally, the party has initiated the restructuring of the Green Youth organization.
