Olympiacos targets Borja Iglesias for forward position

Olympiacos is currently in negotiations to strengthen its squad with a new center forward, with 33-year-old Spanish striker Borja Iglesias emerging as the primary target. Recommended by head coach Imanol Alguacil, the World Cup winner currently plays for Celta Vigo, where his contract is set to expire in the summer of 2027. Despite his experience and a solid record of 18 goals in 50 appearances last season, Iglesias has struggled for playing time this term, having clocked only 21 minutes so far, and is currently managing an injury that may keep him out until the end of September.

While Iglesias remains the priority, Olympiacos is also exploring alternatives to bolster their attack, particularly following the injury to Ayoub El Kaabi. The club is reportedly considering 29-year-old Borja Mayoral from Getafe, who has seen limited action this season. Furthermore, Olympiacos confirmed an offer for Marius, a 28-year-old forward currently with Samsunspor. Reports suggest the bid for Marius was below 10 million euros, though the Turkish club is holding out for a higher valuation. Olympiacos officials have officially played down these reports as tactical maneuvers while the team prepares for an upcoming match against Jagiellonia.
