Digital evidence in the investigation of Giorgos Mazonakis' death

Forensic analysis of the mobile phone belonging to Ioanna Gaka has revealed critical digital evidence regarding the death of singer Giorgos Mazonakis at a private clinic in Kolonaki, Athens, on September 9, 2026. Experts recovered two photographs and one video taken during a plasmapheresis procedure. Metadata indicates these files were created shortly after 14:43, capturing the singer while the medical equipment was active, before being deleted simultaneously at 19:09, minutes before Gaka and her colleague, Ilias Theodoropoulos, reported to the Kypseli police station.

Investigations have linked the procedure to significant medical anomalies, with the plasmapheresis machine recording multiple 'Alarm 9' warnings for excessive venous pressure between 14:25 and 14:26. Authorities are currently investigating the recipient of a transmitted photograph, which Gaka reportedly sent to an individual described as a 'hypnotist doctor' who may have facilitated her connection with the singer.

Following these findings, the two doctors have been detained and face upgraded charges of manslaughter with potential malice. Meanwhile, the head of the Athens Public Prosecutor's Office, Aristidis Koreas, has ordered an urgent preliminary investigation into the Athens Medical Association and other regulatory bodies to determine if adequate inspections of such clinics were conducted over the past five years.
