Forensic recovery of deleted data from Gaka's phone in Mazonakis case

Greek forensic authorities have recovered two deleted photographs and one video from the mobile phone of doctor Ioanna Gaka, as part of the ongoing investigation into the death of singer Giorgos Mazonakis. The digital evidence, retrieved by the Forensic Science Division, relates to the afternoon of September 9, when the singer was undergoing a plasmapheresis treatment at a medical office on Karneadou Street. Metadata analysis indicates that the first photograph was captured at 14:43, recording the start of the procedure and including GPS coordinates of the clinic.

All three files were deleted from the device at 19:09 on September 9, shortly before Gaka and her colleague, Ilias Theodoropoulos, voluntarily appeared at the Kypseli Police Station to provide statements at 19:45. Forensic investigators noted that one of the photographs had been shared with an unidentified third-party number before its deletion. These findings suggest a coordinated effort to remove evidence, potentially marking a pivotal shift in the investigation into the circumstances of Mazonakis's death. Authorities are continuing their probe into the timeline of events leading up to the incident as legal scrutiny of the medical staff intensifies.
