A nephrologist, Christos Iatrou, has disclosed new information regarding the death of Giorgos Mazonakis, linking it to a controversial medical clinic in Kolonaki, Athens. Iatrou revealed that approximately one year ago, he examined a 35-year-old woman from Cyprus at the Hygeia Hospital who had been hospitalized following multiple sessions of plasmapheresis at the same facility where Mazonakis later died. According to the patient's father, the family had paid tens of thousands of euros for these sessions, which were marketed for anti-aging and longevity purposes.

Iatrou emphasized that plasmapheresis is a established medical procedure primarily used for separating blood components, but its application for anti-aging lacks rigorous scientific evidence. Following the report regarding the Cypriot patient, the medical association conducted inspections of the facility, though reports indicate that they failed to locate any medical machinery on the premises during their checks.
