Investigation launched into unauthorized medical center in Larnaca

Authorities in Larnaca have launched a criminal investigation into a medical center following the discovery of unauthorized plasmapheresis machines. Health Ministry inspectors conducted an on-site audit on September 12, 2026, leading to a formal complaint to the police on September 14. The center, which previously operated under different ownership before a 2024 bombing incident, has allegedly been offering treatments for long COVID and vaccine-related blood cleansing without the necessary licenses. Officials are also investigating a doctor at the facility who reportedly lacks the required medical specialization.

This incident follows prior investigations in 2022 and 2023, which failed to produce a criminal conviction regarding the facility's operations. Additionally, pharmaceutical services previously identified illegal, non-licensed botox products on the premises during a separate audit in March 2026. The Panhellenic Medical Association has since initiated an internal audit of its members to ensure professional compliance, while a dedicated police investigative team is currently collecting statements and reviewing previous case files to determine if current laws were violated.
