Police investigate medical centres over unauthorised plasmapheresis machines in Larnaca

Police in Larnaca have initiated an investigation into two medical centres following a referral from the Department of Medical Services regarding the presence of plasmapheresis machines. Authorities received a formal letter dated September 14, 2026, and a dedicated investigative team has been established to determine whether the operations comply with health and safety legislation. The inquiry is being conducted by the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in cooperation with health officials, who have additionally identified non-licensed injectable beauty products at the facilities.

The investigation focuses on a specific medical centre that has been the subject of prior complaints in 2022 and 2023. Officials noted that the facility, which previously offered controversial treatments for long-COVID patients and post-vaccination detoxification, continues to operate despite past legal scrutiny. Although the clinic was allegedly damaged in a bombing attack and reopened under a different name, the Ministry of Health has now formally requested that it suspend all operations.

Looking ahead, investigators are currently gathering witness statements from all involved parties, including health inspectors. The findings will be forwarded to the Legal Service to determine if criminal charges are warranted. Meanwhile, health authorities have launched a nationwide mapping of facilities providing high-risk invasive treatments to ensure compliance across the sector.
