UEFA Executive Committee announces tournament final venues and format updates in Thessaloniki

The UEFA Executive Committee held a significant meeting in Thessaloniki on September 15, 2026, coinciding with the centenary of the Hellenic Football Federation. During the proceedings, officials confirmed that the 'Swiss model'—characterized by a single league table—will be expanded from club competitions to future Euro and World Cup qualifiers, as well as the Nations League.

Furthermore, the committee finalized host venues for major European finals through 2029. The 2028 Champions League final will take place at the Munich Football Arena, while the 2029 final is scheduled for the Camp Nou in Barcelona. Other selected venues include Bucharest's National Arena and Belgrade’s National Stadium for Europa League finals, along with Turin's Allianz Stadium and Budapest's Puskas Arena for Conference League finals.

Decisions were also reached regarding the Women's Champions League, with Lyon and Cardiff selected as hosts for 2028 and 2029, respectively. The UEFA Super Cup host cities were assigned to Amsterdam for 2027 and Astana for 2028. These structural and organizational changes aim to align international qualifying pathways with the successful format recently adopted for club tournaments, ensuring consistency across UEFA’s administrative framework.
