Cyprus consumer protection service issues warning on 41 unsafe products

During the week commencing September 7, 2026, the European Union's Safety Gate early warning system identified 41 non-food products that pose significant risks to consumer health and safety. These items were discovered in markets across various EU member states and subsequently registered in the alert system to notify the public and regulatory authorities.

To ensure the safety of the domestic market, the Cyprus Consumer Protection Service has distributed these findings among seven competent government departments for inspection. The allocation includes 11 products to the Consumer Protection Service, 11 to the Department of Labour Inspection, 9 to the Electromechanical Services Department, 4 to the Department of Road Transport, 4 to the Pharmaceutical Services, and one each to the Department of Environment and the Health Services.

Consumers are urged to consult the Safety Gate website, which provides comprehensive data on these items and is available in Greek, to verify if they own any of the listed products. Authorities advise the public to avoid purchasing or using these goods to prevent potential injury or health complications.
