Limassol municipality advances plans to redevelop 24 public squares

On September 14, 2026, the Limassol municipality hosted a public presentation at the 25th Primary School regarding the redesign of the 'D3' public square in Ayia Fyla, located at the junction of Theodosi Hadjitheodosiou, Zola, and Christou Apostolides streets. This project is part of a larger citywide initiative to upgrade 24 public squares across various neighborhoods to improve accessibility and community utility.

The redesign plans, developed by Eupalinos Meletitiki, incorporate feedback provided by residents during a previous consultation in July. Planners emphasize that the interventions will focus on preserving existing greenery, enhancing lighting, providing shade, and improving safety for all age groups. A secondary consultation phase has also commenced, covering 15 additional squares in areas such as Apostolos Andreas, Ayios Nikolaos, Kapsalos, and Pantheon, with studies prepared by Ioakeim-Loizas E.P.E.

The municipality intends for these squares to serve as vital neighborhood hubs for rest, social interaction, and recreation. Ongoing efforts include analyzing the current state of these spaces and finalizing designs that utilize durable, low-maintenance materials. Officials continue to invite public input to ensure the final configurations meet the specific needs of local residents.
