Cyprus to participate in World Cleanup Day on September 19

On September 19, 2026, Cyprus will join more than 190 countries in observing World Cleanup Day, a global environmental initiative aimed at addressing the waste crisis. The local non-profit organization City Friends Club is coordinating three synchronized cleanup operations to take place in the cities of Limassol, Larnaca, and Paphos.

The events are designed to be community-focused, featuring music by DJs ION and Lubimaya, photography coverage, and refreshments provided by the organizers and their partners. Notably, the cleanup in Limassol is supported by AdTech Holding, an international group of advertising technology companies. Participants will track the weight of the waste collected, which will be submitted to contribute to global statistics measuring the impact of coordinated ecological efforts.

This initiative serves as part of a worldwide movement to combat environmental degradation through collective action. Following the events, the results of the cleanup efforts in Cyprus will be collated and published, allowing participants and the public to review the total impact of their environmental contribution.
