Construction of new TEPAK Marine Sciences School in Larnaca

The Municipality of Larnaca is set to sign a contract for the construction of the new School of Marine Sciences, Technology and Sustainable Development of the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK) on September 24, 2026. The contract has been awarded to Cyfield Construction Ltd for a total of €10,934,000 plus VAT. Construction is scheduled to commence in October 2026, with a timeline of 22 months, aiming for completion by late August 2028.

The two-story facility will cover an area of 4,960 square meters and will be located behind the Mackenzie beach parking area, near the old Larnaca airport. It will feature amphitheaters, classrooms, specialized laboratories, and advanced IT infrastructure for distance learning. The project is funded through an existing loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB). This institution marks the first public university school in the city of Larnaca.

Once fully operational, the school is expected to accommodate approximately 500 students. Concurrently, plans for student housing, supported by the Nicos and Despina Pattichis Foundation, are underway. The school will house two academic departments, focusing on Marine Sciences and Technology, and Sustainable Development, with the first students anticipated to arrive in the fall of 2028.
