UEFA adjusts Nations League format ahead of 2026-2027 season

The UEFA Executive Committee, meeting in Thessaloniki, has established new promotion and relegation rules for the 2026-2027 Nations League season, which commences next week. These adjustments are designed to facilitate a transition to a simplified three-tier competition structure starting in 2028. Under the new rules, the four winners of League B groups will be promoted to League A. Conversely, the two bottom-placed teams in League A with the worst records will be directly relegated to League B. Other teams finishing third and fourth in League A will enter play-offs against second-placed teams from League B to determine their status for the following cycle.

Simultaneously, the Cyprus National Team has announced its preparations for the upcoming matches. Cyprus is scheduled to face Montenegro on September 25 and Latvia on September 28 in away games. The home fixtures will take place at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia, where Cyprus will host Armenia on October 2 and Latvia on October 5. Ticket prices are set at 10 euros for general admission, with special discounts for families, students, and children. The team continues its campaign within a competitive group that also features Montenegro, Armenia, and Latvia.
