Cyprus and UK officials meet in London to discuss maritime cooperation

Cyprus Deputy Minister of Shipping Marina Hadjimanoli met with the British Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Maritime, Keir Mather, in London on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. The bilateral meeting focused on defining the practical steps for implementing an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding shipping between the two governments, as well as strengthening the Cypriot shipping registry.

During the two-day working visit, the officials also discussed current challenges facing the global maritime industry and explored avenues for enhanced cooperation between Cyprus and the United Kingdom. Aside from this bilateral meeting, Hadjimanoli participated in the 18th Capital Link Annual Maritime and Marine Services Forum alongside Dr. Nikolas Tsakos to address sectoral developments.

This meeting marks a continuation of formal efforts to align maritime policies between the two nations following the prior signing of the cooperation agreement. The discussions underscore a shared commitment to addressing international shipping trends and enhancing registry performance through diplomatic engagement.
