Shipping Deputy Minister Marina Hadjimanolis strengthens maritime ties in London

Cyprus Shipping Deputy Minister Marina Hadjimanolis concluded a three-day working visit to London on September 15, 2026, aimed at bolstering bilateral maritime cooperation and promoting the Cyprus shipping registry. During her visit, she met with her British counterpart, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Transport Keir Mather, to finalize the implementation steps for the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in February 2023. The agreement covers key areas including maritime safety, decarbonisation, seafarers' welfare, and cybersecurity.

Beyond the bilateral talks, Hadjimanolis participated in the 18th Annual Capital Link Shipping & Marine Services Forum alongside Mather and TEN Ltd CEO Nikolas Tsakos. Discussions focused on global shipping challenges and enhancing industry competitiveness. This diplomatic engagement is part of a broader strategy to solidify Cyprus as an international maritime hub, following recent diplomatic efforts in Bahrain and ahead of upcoming industry engagements in Athens. Starting September 17, Hadjimanolis will continue her outreach in Greece, attending events related to World Maritime Day and the Maritime Labour Convention. The government aims to turn political dialogue into concrete partnerships to attract more vessels to the national registry.
