53-year-old man arrested at Paphos airport over Polish fraud charges

A 53-year-old man was arrested by Cypriot police at Paphos Airport on September 15, 2026, upon his arrival on a flight from abroad. The arrest was prompted by an active Red Notice issued by Interpol on September 8, 2026, on behalf of Polish authorities.

The suspect is wanted in Poland in connection with multiple serious criminal offenses, including fraud, money laundering, and illegal trading of financial instruments. These crimes were allegedly committed between March 2016 and June 2018. Following the verification of his identity during passport control, a provisional judicial warrant was executed to facilitate the legal process.

The 53-year-old is currently being held in custody as part of the formal extradition proceedings. Cypriot authorities are working to fulfill the request from Poland to transfer him to the custody of Polish law enforcement to face the pending criminal charges in his home country.
