Court hears details on vehicle theft linked to Stavros Dimosthenous murder case

On September 16, 2026, the Permanent Assize Court of Limassol reviewed proceedings regarding 30-year-old Charalambos Savva, who stands accused in the October 17, 2025, murder of Stavros Dimosthenous. During the hearing, the prosecution presented updated details regarding the defendant's involvement in the theft of a Mitsubishi Colt vehicle belonging to a local priest, an offense to which Savva has officially pleaded guilty.

According to court documents, the theft occurred on October 5, 2025, after Savva coordinated with an accomplice who knew the priest frequently left his keys inside the car. After the vehicle, valued at €4,000, was stolen from near a church in Limassol, Savva instructed the accomplice to bring it to Nicosia. The two later met at the State Fair area, where Savva paid the accomplice €300 for the theft. The court also agreed to consider another pending criminal case against the defendant, who is expected to testify as a witness in the broader murder investigation.

The murder of Stavros Dimosthenous took place near his residence in Limassol last October. While legal proceedings continue, the defendant remains central to the case as authorities work to finalize the judicial process regarding both the theft and the homicide charges.
