Greece and Cyprus deepen economic and strategic cooperation

Between September 15 and 17, 2026, Greek Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Charis Theocharis visited Cyprus to discuss the deepening of bilateral economic and strategic relations. During an event titled "Greek Business in Cyprus: Current Reality and Prospects," hosted by the Association of Greek Professionals in Cyprus (SELEK) and supported by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEVE), officials emphasized that the two nations are moving toward a unified economic space.

The discussions highlighted the role of the Great Sea Interconnector (GSI) as a strategic project for regional energy and economic connectivity. In subsequent meetings with the Cyprus-Greece Business Association and Ambassador Konstantinos Kollias, Theocharis identified new initiatives to enhance export capabilities. The roadmap focuses on using Cyprus as a gateway for Greek businesses to enter Arab markets, while positioning Greece as a bridge for Cypriot firms to reach broader European and global markets.

Constantinos Daltas, President of SELEK, reaffirmed the association's commitment to supporting networking for Greek interests in Cyprus. Both governments expressed satisfaction with current cooperation levels, noting that economic and investment ties have reached their highest point in recent history, fostering regional geopolitical stability.
