Greece and Cyprus strengthen economic ties at SELEK business event

The Association of Greek Professionals in Cyprus (SELEK) hosted an event titled "Greek Business in Cyprus: Current Reality and Prospects" on September 15-16, 2026. The gathering brought together representatives from the business, banking, and institutional sectors of both nations. Charis Theocharis, Greek Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, served as the keynote speaker and emphasized that bilateral economic and investment relations are currently at their peak. He proposed that Greece and Cyprus should be viewed as a unified economic space that acts as a pillar of regional geopolitical stability.

SELEK President Konstantinos Daltas reaffirmed the organization's role as a networking bridge for the Greek business community in Cyprus, operating under the institutional support of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEVE). The event featured two thematic panels moderated by SELEK Vice President Konstantinos Kosmas, focusing on investment, finance, and development. Theocharis also highlighted the strategic importance of the Great Sea Interconnector (GSI) project, describing it as a "game changer" for regional connectivity and energy security between the two countries.
