Musicians quit Ed Sheeran's tour following Macklemore's removal

American rapper Macklemore was removed from Ed Sheeran’s U.S. Loop Tour following his pro-Palestinian remarks and the performance of his song “Hind’s Hall” at a September 4 concert in New Jersey. The decision to drop him was initiated by the Messina Touring Group after venue owners reportedly refused to host concerts featuring the rapper due to his political stance on the conflict in Gaza and the West Bank.

Ed Sheeran stated that the removal was the promoter's decision, not his own, emphasizing his desire to continue the tour for the sake of his fans and the crew relying on the work. However, the move triggered widespread backlash within the tour lineup. Musicians Finneas, the band Lukas Graham, singer-songwriter Aaron Rowe, and Sheeran’s backing band Beoga announced their departure from the tour in solidarity with Macklemore.

The situation remains unstable as the tour faces multiple vacancies. While Sheeran has sought to distance himself from the political controversy, the mass resignation of supporting acts highlights ongoing tensions regarding the expression of political views during large-scale commercial performances.
