Kim Kardashian awarded symbolic compensation for 2016 Paris robbery

A Paris court has awarded television personality Kim Kardashian one euro in symbolic compensation from the perpetrators of a 2016 armed robbery at a luxury hotel. The incident involved masked individuals disguised as police officers, who held Kardashian at gunpoint and stole jewelry, including an engagement ring valued at four million dollars. The suspects, colloquially known in France as the "grandfather robbers" due to their age, were convicted in May 2025. Kardashian, who testified that she feared for her life during the attack, explicitly requested the symbolic sum to emphasize the pursuit of justice over financial gain.

The hotel receptionist, who was also a victim during the heist, was awarded approximately 110,000 euros after seeking 500,000 euros in damages. This event is regarded as one of the most significant robberies in France in the past two decades. Most of the stolen items, including the ring gifted by the celebrity's then-husband, the rapper Kanye West (now known as Ye), remain unrecovered. The case serves as a final legal resolution following the conviction of the defendants last year.
