Formula 1 unveils 2027 calendar featuring 24 races and return to Istanbul

The FIA and Formula One have officially released the 2027 racing calendar, which consists of 24 rounds across 22 countries. The season will commence on March 14 in Bahrain, following pre-season testing scheduled for February 24–27, and conclude in Abu Dhabi on December 12. A significant highlight of the new schedule is the return of the Turkish Grand Prix at Istanbul Park, which is part of a newly signed five-year agreement starting in 2027. Additionally, the Portugal Grand Prix has been added to the roster, while the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort and the race in Barcelona have been dropped.

Operational changes include an increase in Sprint weekends from six to 10. Notably, Monaco will host a sprint event for the first time despite concerns regarding the circuit's limited overtaking opportunities. Other locations hosting sprints include Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Canada, Great Britain, Italy, Brazil, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi. While the calendar remains set, officials acknowledged that races in the Gulf region face ongoing uncertainty due to regional conflicts, noting that previous events in Jeddah were cancelled and Bahrain's 2026 event required rescheduling.
