Under scrutiny: 21 appointments to semi-state organizations – MPs demand justification – Piki and Arestis respond on the role of the Advisory Council

The Cypriot Parliament's Institutions Committee is scrutinizing the appointment of 21 individuals to state-owned organizations who were not recommended by the Advisory Council. While 73 of the 94 total positions followed council recommendations, MPs from multiple parties demanded formal justifications for the deviations. Deputy Minister to the President, Irene Piki, and Council President George Arestis emphasized that the council serves an advisory role and that the vast majority of appointments aligned with their proposals.
