Formula 1 announces 2027 calendar including the return of Turkey

Formula 1 and the FIA have officially released the 2027 World Championship calendar, which features 24 races across 22 countries. The season will commence in Bahrain from March 12 to 14, following four days of winter testing at the Sakhir circuit from February 24 to 27. The season will conclude in Abu Dhabi from December 10 to 12. A significant highlight of the new schedule is the return of the Turkish Grand Prix at Istanbul Park, which is locked into a five-year agreement, with the 2027 event scheduled for October 1 to 3, positioned between the races in Azerbaijan and Singapore.

The 2027 season also introduces a major structural change by increasing the number of Sprint events from six to ten. These events will take place in Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Canada, Monaco, Great Britain, Italy, Brazil, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi. Formula 1 officials decided to expand the Sprint format following a 12% increase in viewership during such weekends. The inclusion of the Monaco circuit in the Sprint schedule is a notable development for the upcoming season, reflecting the sport's ongoing efforts to enhance broadcast and commercial appeal.
