Larnaca parents' federation protests school bus cancellations

The Federation of Secondary Education Parents of Larnaca has formally denounced the recurring cancellation of school bus routes in the region as of September 16, 2026. The organization highlights that these service disruptions have left hundreds of students without access to their schools, severely impacting their daily commutes and causing significant inconvenience to families.

The federation identifies the private operator, Cyprus Public Transport, as responsible for these cancellations. Parents describe the situation as unacceptable, noting that safe and consistent transportation is a contractual obligation for which families pay. The federation further stresses that alleged past operational issues or misconduct within the system should not be used as a justification to penalize students by canceling essential services.

In response to the ongoing situation, the parents' organization is demanding immediate corrective measures from the Ministry of Transport to restore reliable service. The group has warned that if the transport issues persist without state intervention, they are prepared to take stronger, more direct action to resolve the matter and ensure students regain their right to education.
