EMEL announces bus fare increases in Limassol starting in October

Starting in early October 2026, passengers in Limassol will face increased bus fares as the company EMEL adjusts its pricing due to rising operational costs, particularly fuel prices. The single ticket price will rise from €2 to €2.50, although it will remain at €2 when using an eWallet. The daily pass will increase from €6 to €7, while the seven-day pass will see a significant jump from €25 to €35. Additionally, the personalized 30-day ticket will rise to €50, and the anonymous 30-day ticket will increase from €45 to €60.

EMEL CEO Giorgos Kyriakou stated that these adjustments are necessary due to the current economic situation. Meanwhile, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works noted that fare structures are regulated by biennial contracts and confirmed she will communicate with EMEL to discuss the changes further. Provisions for vulnerable social groups remain under government regulation.
