Police conduct widespread overnight operations across Cyprus

Over two consecutive nights, the Cyprus Police conducted nationwide preventive operations aimed at maintaining public order and preventing criminal activity. On the night of September 16-17, authorities reported 314 traffic violations, including 89 for speeding, and arrested three individuals for offenses such as illegal stay and driving under the influence of alcohol. During this period, 597 vehicles were stopped, 777 people were checked, and 35 premises were inspected, leading to three complaints and the impoundment of eight vehicles.

Operations continued on the following night, September 17-18, resulting in 248 traffic violations, with 62 related to speeding. Police arrested two more individuals for illegal stay and outstanding warrants, while 521 drivers and 140 passengers were stopped. Additionally, officers inspected 52 premises, resulting in five complaints, and nine vehicles were impounded. Alcohol and drug testing were also performed, with some reports noting positive results for narcotics. Police authorities stated that these daily patrols are part of an ongoing effort to ensure public safety.
