Suspected serial killer arrested while disguised as a woman in Brazil
Authorities in Brazil have arrested 33-year-old Jorlan Alves da Silva, a suspected serial killer who reportedly claimed to have murdered approximately 80 people. The arrest occurred in the northeastern state of Paraíba as the suspect attempted to evade capture while disguised in a striped dress, a long black wig, sandals, and makeup. Police footage shows officers removing his wig during the operation, during which he was seen smiling.
At the time of his apprehension, the suspect was carrying a two-year-old child. Law enforcement officials are currently investigating the identity of the child and the nature of their relationship. The arrest followed a failed initial attempt by police to intercept the suspect, who had managed to escape when authorities previously stopped a vehicle allegedly used by him and his accomplices, resulting in the detention of at least one other individual.
Police are currently treating the case as a major serial killing investigation. Authorities continue to examine the extent of his alleged crimes and are working to determine how the child came to be in his custody during his attempt to flee.
