Cyta and Connect Europe host workshop on new EU digital legislation

On September 17, 2026, Cyta and Connect Europe held a joint workshop dedicated to the proposed European Digital Networks Act (DNA) and the revision of the Cybersecurity Act (CSA2). The event was hosted by Cyta CEO George Metzakis and Connect Europe Director General Alessandro Gropelli, with opening remarks provided by Communications Commissioner Marios Pieris and Digital Policy Director Kyriaki Pantziarou. Attendees included representatives from public authorities, telecommunications providers, the business sector, and European institutions.

The discussions centered on establishing a harmonized European regulatory framework designed to incentivize large-scale investments in high-speed infrastructure, including fibre-optic, 5G, and future 6G networks. A key focus was placed on the DNA’s provisions concerning radio spectrum management and the development of innovative digital services. Furthermore, participants explored strategies for enhancing the overall resilience of communication networks against security threats. The participants emphasized the importance of implementing effective, risk-proportionate measures to ensure the continuous operation of critical infrastructure throughout the European Union. This collaborative effort aims to align national practices with upcoming European standards to foster a secure and competitive digital environment.
