Cyprus finance minister attends Eurogroup and informal Ecofin meetings in Dublin

Cypriot Minister of Finance Makis Keravnos is traveling to Dublin on Thursday, September 17, 2026, to participate in the Eurogroup meeting and the informal Council of Economic and Financial Affairs (Ecofin) gathering scheduled for September 18 and 19.

On Friday morning, September 18, Minister Keravnos will join his counterparts to discuss recent economic developments and policy priorities alongside the Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs. The agenda includes a session on enhancing productivity and competitiveness within the eurozone, informed by a presentation from OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann. Following this, the informal Ecofin council will commence with a working lunch focused on the competitiveness of the European banking sector, based on a recent European Commission report.

The discussions are intended to evaluate the current state of the European banking system and align economic strategies among the member states. The meetings represent a key opportunity for finance ministers and central bank governors to coordinate financial policy and address systemic challenges facing the eurozone's economic infrastructure.
