Uncertainty surrounds Paola concert in Pyrga quarry

Organizers are racing against time to finalize permits for singer Paola's upcoming concert at a quarry in Pyrga, Cyprus. As of September 16, Larnaca District Officer Odysseas K. Hatzistefanou has not issued the final authorization, citing the necessity of an on-site safety inspection by the Fire Service, which can only occur once the stage is fully constructed. While the Department of Mines, the Department of Forests, the Police, and the Pyrga Community Council have provided positive consent, the Municipality of Lefkara has formally opposed the event.

To bypass the opposition from the Municipality of Lefkara, the organizers, including Antonis Latouros of the Latouros company, shifted the venue from land within the Kornos municipal district to an adjacent plot falling under the jurisdiction of the Pyrga community. Organizers expressed frustration over the last-minute scrutiny, noting that local officials previously supported similar events at the same site. As of September 17, preparations are underway to complete the stage setup in hopes of receiving the final green light from the District Officer and the Fire Service.
