New investigation into the 2011 death of MIT official Kasif Kozinoglu

Turkish authorities have launched a new operation and issued arrest warrants for four individuals in connection with the 2011 death of Kasif Kozinoglu, a Turkish intelligence (MIT) officer who died under controversial circumstances while imprisoned at Silivri Prison. The investigation led to simultaneous police raids in Istanbul and Ankara, resulting in the detention of Hasan Ataman Yildirim, a former cellmate of the deceased, and the former chief prosecutor of Silivri, Ali.

Among those sought is Hasan Atilla Ugur, a retired Gendarmerie colonel. Reports indicate that Turkish authorities have identified his presence in the Turkish-occupied northern part of Cyprus and have initiated formal legal procedures to locate, arrest, and extradite him to Turkey to face questioning. The investigation aims to clarify the conditions surrounding Kozinoglu's suspicious death while in custody. Authorities continue their search for the remaining suspects as part of an ongoing effort to resolve this long-standing case.
