Turkish authorities issue arrest warrants over 2011 death of MIT official Kasif Kozinoglu

Turkish authorities have launched a new operation regarding the 2011 death of Kasif Kozinoglu, a high-ranking official of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) who died under controversial circumstances while detained at Silivri Prison. As part of a reopened investigation, arrest warrants have been issued for four individuals.

Among those sought are the former chief prosecutor of Silivri and retired Gendarmerie Colonel Hasan Atilla Ugur. According to local reports, Turkish officials have determined that Ugur is currently in the Turkish-occupied northern part of Cyprus, and judicial procedures have been initiated to locate, arrest, and extradite him to Turkey. Simultaneous operations were conducted in Istanbul and Ankara, leading to the detention of other suspects, including Hasan Ataman Yildirim, who had been a fellow inmate of Kozinoglu during his imprisonment.

The investigation focuses on clarifying the mysterious circumstances surrounding Kozinoglu's demise. The case has long been a subject of speculation, given his background in intelligence and the nature of his incarceration. Authorities are continuing their efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects as the legal process moves forward to establish the facts of his death.
