South African authorities investigate surge of murders in Johannesburg

South African police are investigating a series of murders following the discovery of nine female bodies in the Ekurhuleni region, east of Johannesburg, over the past two months. The victims, aged 20 to 40, were found in various states of dress, with some showing signs of sexual violence. President Cyril Ramaphosa has pledged that the state will do everything possible to solve the cases. In response to the discovery of three bodies within a single week, police have implemented curfews and set up roadblocks in Kempton Park to improve security. Deputy Police Commissioner Thembelo Mosikili emphasized that the current situation is unsustainable, stating that law enforcement must act decisively rather than simply recovering victims.
