President Christodoulides to attend shipping event in Athens before UN General Assembly
President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides is scheduled to travel to Athens on the afternoon of September 18, 2026, to attend an event organized by the Cyprus Union of Shipowners. He will be joined by the President of the Hellenic Republic, and the program includes an address by President Christodoulides, as well as remarks from the President of the Cyprus Union of Shipowners, Polys Hajioannou, and the President of the Hellenic Republic. The President will also attend a dinner hosted by the Union as part of these proceedings.
Following his visit to Athens, President Christodoulides will depart for New York to participate in the 81st United Nations General Assembly. While in New York, he is scheduled to address the assembly, meet with the UN Secretary-General, and hold discussions with various heads of state and government. His itinerary includes a briefing with the Cypriot diaspora on September 20 and a meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan on September 21. Separately, Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos has confirmed an extensive schedule of approximately 35 bilateral meetings during the General Assembly to advance diplomatic objectives.
