President Christodoulides to attend UN General Assembly following Athens event

President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides is traveling to Athens to attend an event hosted by the Cyprus Union of Shipowners. He will be joined by the President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, and the Union's President, Polys Hajioannou. Following this engagement, President Christodoulides will depart for New York to participate in the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

While in New York, the President will address the UN General Assembly and hold high-level meetings with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and his personal envoy for Cyprus, Maria Angela Holguin. His itinerary includes a briefing for Cypriot diaspora leaders on September 20, a meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan on September 21, and participation in a summit on multilateralism hosted by European Council President Antonio Costa and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Accompanying the President are Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kombos, Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis, and negotiator Menelaos Menelaou. The mission aims to address the Cyprus problem, with officials indicating potential readiness to extend the visit if opportunities for tripartite or extended conferences arise. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Kombos has confirmed 35 bilateral meetings with UN member states, reflecting a strategic, geography-based diplomatic effort.
