President Christodoulides to visit Athens and New York for UN General Assembly

President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides is scheduled to depart for Athens on September 18, 2026, to attend an event organized by the Cyprus Union of Shipowners. The event, which will also be attended by the President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, includes a dinner where both leaders are set to deliver remarks. Following this engagement, President Christodoulides will travel to New York to participate in the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

In New York, President Christodoulides will address the UN General Assembly and engage in a series of high-level meetings beginning on September 20 with representatives of the Cypriot diaspora. His schedule includes a meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan on September 21, and participation in a summit on multilateralism and international law co-organized by European Council President Antonio Costa and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. On September 22, he will attend the assembly's plenary session and hold further meetings, including discussions with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and personal envoy Maria Angela Holguin regarding the Cyprus issue. The presidential delegation accompanying him includes Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, Government Spokesperson Constantinos Letymbiotis, and negotiator Menelaos Menelaou. The mission is set to conclude on September 26.
