President Christodoulides to visit Athens before attending the UN General Assembly

President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides will depart for Athens on the afternoon of September 18, 2026, to attend an event hosted by the Cyprus Union of Shipowners. The visit includes a dinner organized by the Union, where President Christodoulides is scheduled to deliver an address. The President of the Hellenic Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, and the President of the Cyprus Union of Shipowners, Polys Haji-Ioannou, will also attend the event and offer their own remarks.

Following his engagements in Athens, President Christodoulides will depart for New York on the following day, September 19, 2026. His primary objective in New York is to participate in the proceedings of the 81st United Nations General Assembly. The trip signifies an active period of diplomatic engagements for the Cypriot President, spanning both regional cooperation in the shipping sector and participation in major international multilateral forums.
