Strovolos municipality approves new childcare facility and expands daycare program

The Municipality of Strovolos has officially decided to move forward with the construction of a new nursery and childcare facility. During a council meeting on September 8, 2026, officials greenlit the project, which will utilize property donated over two decades ago by the late Katina Mikellidou. The project, aimed at providing low-cost, high-quality childcare for working parents, has been integrated into the municipality's strategic development plan through 2030, with an implementation timeline scheduled between September 2027 and December 2029. Funding is expected to be sourced from a combination of European, national, and local municipal resources.

In a parallel move to support families, the municipality also announced that three new daycare centers have begun operations for the 2026/2027 school year at the Agia Marina, Konstantinoupolis, and Archangelos public kindergartens. Managed by the "Polydynamo Municipal Center of Strovolos," these centers will accommodate 60 preschool children for afternoon care until 6:00 PM. This initiative receives support from the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare and complements existing services that currently assist 850 primary school children across 13 childcare centers in the area.
