Cyprus participates in the first Homo Faber Summit in Venice

A Cypriot delegation is currently in Venice for the first Homo Faber Summit, held from September 16 to 18, 2026, on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. The summit, organized by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship, brings together approximately 150 international experts from the fields of design, architecture, culture, and creative industries.

Cyprus is represented at the event by Giorgos G. Papageorgiou, Director General of the Deputy Ministry of Culture, and Maria Anaxagora, Head of the Cyprus Handicraft Service. The summit runs concurrently with the fourth Homo Faber exhibition, which is curated by artist Es Devlin under the title 'An Island of Light.' Discussions focus on the future of human craftsmanship, the integration of traditional skills into the modern creative economy, and navigating challenges posed by increasing automation.

Participants are exploring new collaborative models between creators and businesses, as well as strategies for international promotion and investment in human expertise. This summit marks a significant effort by the Michelangelo Foundation to redefine the role of craftsmanship within contemporary industrial frameworks, emphasizing the value of human skill in a globalized, automated market.
