DIPA and EDEK leaders discuss political cooperation
On September 17, 2026, the President of the Democratic Alignment (DIPA), Marios Karoyian, held an inaugural meeting with the newly elected President of EDEK, Sofia Christodoulou Makri, at the DIPA offices in Cyprus. The discussion focused on the current challenges facing the Republic of Cyprus and the need to redefine the role of political forces currently lacking parliamentary representation.
During the meeting, both leaders emphasized the necessity of maintaining a responsible and proactive presence within society. Karoyian stated that, despite their absence from the current Parliament, both parties must contribute practical, viable solutions and foster cooperation to address social issues. Christodoulou Makri advocated for an open and honest dialogue regarding the future of the country, the functionality of its institutions, and citizens' daily concerns. Both parties expressed a mutual commitment to continuing these contacts to strengthen their influence and cooperation on national issues.
