Canopy collapses in Strovolos following hit-and-run incident

On September 17, 2026, a structural canopy collapsed on Archbishop Kyprianou Street in Strovolos, Cyprus, prompting an immediate mobilization of local authorities. Initially, officials warned the public to avoid the area while police and municipal teams secured the scene to ensure public safety.

Subsequent investigations by the Nicosia District Self-Government Organization (EOA) revealed that the collapse was caused by a large vehicle colliding with the structure.
