Recent wave of arson attacks targets private vehicles in Limassol and Strovolos

Authorities in Cyprus are investigating a series of suspected arson attacks targeting private vehicles. In the early hours of Friday, September 18, a van parked outside a residence in the Agios Ioannis area of Limassol was severely damaged after being set on fire. Emergency services, including two fire engines from the Agios Ioannis "Lochias Vasilis Krokou" station, were alerted at approximately 03:55 and contained the blaze by 04:26. Police and fire officials confirmed that the incident involved the use of flammable materials.

Following this, on the night of Friday, September 19, another incident occurred in Strovolos, where a vehicle parked in a metal garage was targeted. A neighbor successfully extinguished the fire with a garden hose before fire crews arrived at 21:41. While initial assessments suggest both cases were malicious acts of arson, investigations by the Limassol CID and relevant authorities remain ongoing to identify the perpetrators and clarify the circumstances behind these attacks.
