Larnaca court postpones plea hearing in fraud and criminal case

On September 18, 2026, four individuals appeared before the Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca to face charges related to the alleged defrauding of a 77-year-old man out of tens of thousands of euros. The defendants include a 44-year-old businessman, a 42-year-old businessman, a 49-year-old individual already in custody, and a 45-year-old woman. During the session, the defense counsel requested additional evidence and further clarification regarding the specific roles and involvement of each accused person in the alleged crimes.

Consequently, the court granted a motion to postpone the plea entry, rescheduling the process for October 5, 2026. The charges against the group include participation in a criminal organization, money laundering, and conspiracy to commit a felony. Among the defendants, the 44-year-old businessman and the 49-year-old are currently held in custody. The latter faces additional legal proceedings regarding the torture of individuals at an illegal casino in Pyla and a shooting incident on January 17. Furthermore, the 44-year-old faces separate charges of witness intimidation related to the same shooting event in Larnaca.
