Oev and TechIsland sign cooperation agreement

On September 18, 2026, the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (Oev) and the non-profit association TechIsland signed a memorandum of understanding to bolster the island's innovation ecosystem. The agreement was finalized during a ceremony involving Oev president George Pantelides and TechIsland president Valentinos Polykarpou.

The partnership aims to create a structured framework for joint policy proposals concerning the business environment, specifically targeting improvements in the regulatory and tax landscape. Key initiatives will focus on developing physical and digital infrastructure, attracting and retaining investments, and enhancing the skills of the workforce through targeted reskilling programs that align education with modern labor market needs.

This collaboration marks a significant step as the technology sector expands its influence beyond traditional roles. It follows recent civic engagement from TechIsland, including their €2 million Wildfire Initiative launched in 2025 to address environmental recovery and prevention. The new partnership intends to translate these broader organizational efforts into concrete economic and technological growth for Cyprus.
